Half-way point!

Hope that you all are having a great summer! Mine has been the best summer in recent memory for several reason. But most of which is my weightloss. As of 8/9, I have lost 17 pounds, and just over 4.5 inches off my waist! I am down 1-2 pant sizes depending upon the pants. And most importantly, I feel incredible. I have so much energy.
 
I want to thank all of you for your support. It has been just amazing and keeps me on track every day. That is of course what Betterment is about. We are support for our Betterment community and for those who need a helping hand. This year is no exception. Each event we have is in direct support of an indiviudal or group that need help during a difficult time. I highly recommend that you read some of the people that we are assisting this year. It will further validate and strengthen your belief in what Betterment does. Two recent recipients, in particular, have recently touched my heart. Read

Marathon - Julie Style

Welcome to the Julie Style Marathon page! For those of you that I have not had the pleasure of meeting yet, I recently joined the National Board of Betterment. I have been involved with Betterment since its inception 10 years ago. I feel so grateful to be a part of a foundation that helps so many people. For more information on all of the individuals and groups that we have assisted, visit the
current and past recipients page to learn about those we have helped.  
 
Many of you out there run and walk in support your favorite charities.  Unfortunately, due to my own physical limitations, that is not possible for me.  As some of you know, I was in a ski accident nearly 15 years ago and suffered from hypothermia and frostbite. This required many surgeries over the years including skin grafts and a heel reconstruction. As a result, my mobility is limited from time to time and I have gained bit of weight as a result.
 
The marathon that I am taking part in is a 90 day weight loss marathon. My goal is to lose 50 pounds by September 21.
 
I was one of 50 people chosen to participate in a High Antioxidant weight loss diet study through my healthy chocolate company, Xocai. It was a very sought after and high visibility slot. I am very excited and grateful. The diet centers around our new high antioxidant protein shake. Just delicious! I am replacing 2 meals a day with the shake and having a sensible 3rd meal and healthy snacks...targeting 1200 calories (with the thought that it will be closer to 1500 because people tend to under-estimate calories) I will be monitored by doctors and supported by my 49 other study participants.
 
I will update you weekly on my progress as I weigh in on Monday mornings.
 
My ask is that during this journey, you come along and sponsor me for each pound or for a given amount. This one time ask will raise money for Betterment as I fight the good fight to lose this weight and support our great foundation. My goal is to raise $3,000.
